Grade A Back-to-School Organization

As summer break makes its exit and back to school makes its entrance earlier alarms, homework, and sports practices begin all over. The transition from leisure days to a structured regimen can be hard especially if you’re unorganized from day one.  Be inspired by these décor solutions to help you enter the fall with an A+ organization that makes the grade all year long.

Chalk it up. The classroom isn’t the only place for chalkboards. As a wall paint option, it creates a writable surface that makes forgetting homework and chores, well… more unforgettable. Try painting one wall in the kids’ bedrooms. Have them write a checklist to organize their weekly to-dos. Since they spend a lot of time in that space there should be more accountability when the writing’s on the wall.

Walk the line. If school artwork and such crowd your fridge get creative with a functional alternative – the clothesline. Homes with a laundry/mudroom pass-through make great spaces for this display solution. If you don’t install a clothesline there, just take a long piece of twine and attach it with a screw on each end. Create an assortment of school papers attached with clothespins and every time you walk to and from that area take pause to have a proud moment.

Keep out of sight in mind. If bedroom size is an issue a fold-out wall desk is a perfect way to conceal school-related clutter and maximize the space when not in use. Ottomans are great storage solutions for books, backpacks, and sports gear. Solve closet overflow problems with extra large wall hooks and floor-to-ceiling corner shelving.
