Hosting an Eco-Friendly Summer Party

With summer comes an increase in backyard entertaining and also our carbon footprints. With this in mind, keep “green” on top of mind with your party planning.

Eco-friendly Invites. If you’re foregoing online invitations for a more personal touch, mail recycled, acid-free, and organic invitations that just keep on giving. Select invites with mixed wildflower seeds in the material so that after the event your guests can just toss them into their gardens and water daily. Shortly, they will have budding flowers along with sustainable memories too.

Botanical Décor. Let your tablescape follow suit with organic design. Gather twigs, rocks, grass, blooms, and mulch and add to a tall glass vase for the centerpiece, or simply spread on a bamboo table runner. And don’t forget the biodegradable flatware, plates, napkins, and such, and pass on the latex balloons.

Cheers to Organic Spirits. With the increase of microbreweries and green wineries, choose spirits produced from sustainable resources, production, and in recycled containers. Complement with a catered organic meal, or if you’re grilling then choose more environmentally friendly options like propane or lump charcoal (instead of briquettes) for the air quality’s sake.
