Serve Up Icy Holiday Cheer

Being home for the holidays warms our hearts at Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year’s celebrations. Freeze those feelings with a “cool” serving tray that spreads good cheer with delicious libations, nosh and fond memories too – and it starts with just a carton.

• Insert artificial, red poinsettias in a clean carton and fill it with distilled water – or add dreidels, Kente cloth, or confetti instead for whatever you’re celebrating. After it’s frozen run the carton under hot water and peel the paper away.

• Place your DIY sculpture on a decorative tray to catch any melting ice. Add other holiday décor around the bottom that is safe to get wet. Tip: floating, colored candles are perfect.

• Put a serving tray on top and place your cold hors d’oeuvres and beverages there. Ta-da! What a festive centerpiece for a bar cart, kitchen island, or dining table.
